We do not use photo data for facial recognition, identification, tracking, or any purpose other than portrait generation. Photo data is not permanently stored on our servers.

How do we process your information? We process your information in two distinct ways:

1. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?

Photos & Face Data

Face data: LORE does not use Face ID, ARKit face tracking, TrueDepth, or any facial recognition or biometric identification technology. We do not extract or store facial landmarks, face geometry, or biometric templates. The only "face data" we process is the selfie photo you voluntarily upload, which is used solely as an input to our AI image generation provider to create stylized portraits.

Photo Data Collection

As an AI-powered archetype discovery and portrait generation application, we collect photos you voluntarily upload during the onboarding process. This is essential for providing our core service of generating personalized AI portraits and scene cards.

  • We only collect photos you explicitly choose to upload (via camera or photo library)
  • Photos are used solely for generating AI portraits and scene cards that visualize your archetype
  • Photos are transmitted securely to our AI generation service and processed in real-time
  • Photos are not permanently stored on our servers after generation is complete

Other Personal Information You Disclose to Us

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you use our Services:

2. HOW DO WE PROCESS YOUR INFORMATION?

Photo Data Processing

We process your uploaded photos specifically for:

  • Generating AI-powered portraits that visualize your psychological archetype
  • Creating personalized scene cards (e.g., shadow self, spotlight moment, origin story)
  • All photo processing is done in real-time through secure AI services
  • Photos are not retained on our servers after portrait generation is complete

Chat Data Processing

When you interact with the Sage (our AI chat feature):

  • Your messages are transmitted to our AI service to generate personalized responses
  • Limited contextual information (your name, archetype) is included to personalize responses
  • Chat history is stored locally on your device, not on our servers
  • Conversation summaries may be generated for improving future responses

3. WHEN AND WITH WHOM DO WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

Photo Data Sharing

We share your photo data only with our contracted AI generation services for the sole purpose of creating portraits:

  • AI Generation Services: We transmit your photo securely to Google's Gemini API (operated by Google LLC) solely for the purpose of generating portraits and scene cards. Per Google's paid API terms, data submitted to the Gemini API is not used to train Google's models and is processed only to fulfill requests on our behalf. No facial recognition, face identification, or biometric template extraction is performed.
  • No Other Sharing: We do not share your photo data with any other third parties, including advertisers, marketers, or data brokers.
  • No Data Sales: We do not sell your photo data or any personal information to any third parties.

Third-Party Services (Google Gemini)

LORE uses Google's Gemini API (operated by Google LLC) to generate your AI portraits and readings. When you consent, your selfie photo and archetype context are transmitted over HTTPS to Google's Gemini API solely for the purpose of generating portraits and text. Per Google's paid API terms, data submitted to the Gemini API is not used to train Google's models, is not retained beyond request fulfillment, and is processed only to fulfill our generation requests. No facial recognition or biometric identification is performed. You are asked to grant explicit in-app consent before any photo is transmitted.

Analytics Services

We use analytics services (such as Mixpanel) to understand how the App is used. These services receive aggregated, anonymized usage data and do not have access to your photos or chat content.

4. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?

We keep your information only as long as necessary to provide our Services:

  • Photos: Not permanently stored on our servers. Photos are processed in real-time for portrait generation and are not retained after the generation process is complete.
  • Generated Portraits: Stored locally on your device. We do not maintain copies on our servers.
  • Chat History: Stored locally on your device. Not stored on our servers.
  • Account Data: Retained as long as you have an active account. Deleted when you reset your profile or delete the app.

5. HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SAFE?

We aim to protect your personal information through a system of organizational and technical security measures including encrypted data transmission using industry-standard protocols (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication via Firebase, and regular security monitoring.

6. DO WE COLLECT INFORMATION FROM MINORS?

We do not knowingly collect data from or market to children under 13 years of age. If we learn that personal information from users less than 13 years of age has been collected, we will take reasonable measures to promptly delete such data from our records.

7. WHAT ARE YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS?

You have certain rights regarding your personal information including the right to access, correct, and delete your data. Since most of your data (chat history, generated portraits) is stored locally on your device, you have direct control over it at all times.

9. HOW LORE USES YOUR UPLOADED PHOTOS

As an AI-powered archetype and portrait generation application, we collect and process photos you voluntarily upload. This is essential for providing our core service of generating personalized AI portraits and scene cards that visualize your psychological archetype.

Data Collection

We collect the following from photos you upload:

  • Your selfie photo, voluntarily provided during onboarding or from your profile settings
  • The photo is converted to a base64-encoded format for secure transmission
  • The photo is combined with your archetype information to generate personalized portraits

Data Processing

Your photo is processed using secure AI services to provide:

  • A primary archetype portrait that visualizes your psychological identity
  • Collectible scene cards depicting different facets of your archetype (shadow self, spotlight moment, etc.)
  • All processing occurs in real-time upon your request
  • Generated images are returned to your device and stored locally

10. PHOTO DATA RETENTION POLICY

We maintain a strict non-retention policy for your photo data:

  • Photos are not permanently stored on our servers
  • Photos are processed in real-time and discarded after portrait generation is complete
  • Generated portrait images are stored only on your device
  • Your original selfie is stored only on your device (in the app's local storage)
  • Deleting the app removes all locally stored photos and portraits
  • There is no server-side data to delete because we do not retain your photos

11. PHOTO DATA COLLECTION METHODOLOGY

Our photo data collection process is transparent and user-controlled:

  • You voluntarily take a selfie or select a photo from your library
  • The photo is encoded and transmitted securely (HTTPS/TLS) to our backend API
  • Our backend forwards the photo to Google's Gemini API for AI image generation
  • The AI service generates your portrait and returns the result
  • The generated portrait is sent back to your device and stored locally
  • Your original photo is not retained on our servers or by the AI service after processing

12. PHOTO DATA DISCLOSURE AND SHARING

We maintain strict controls over your photo data:

  • Photo data is transmitted only to Google's Gemini API (operated by Google LLC) for the sole purpose of generating portraits and scene cards. No facial recognition or biometric identification is performed.
  • The AI service is contractually bound to process data only for fulfilling our generation requests and not retain or use it for other purposes
  • No sharing with advertisers, marketers, or data brokers
  • No sale of photo data
  • Data only disclosed if explicitly required by law

13. PHOTO DATA SECURITY

We employ comprehensive security measures to protect your photo data:

  • Encrypted data transmission using HTTPS/TLS for all photo uploads
  • Secure authentication via Firebase to prevent unauthorized access
  • Photos are processed in real-time and not stored on our servers, minimizing exposure
  • Generated portraits are stored only on your device using iOS sandboxed storage
  • Regular security monitoring and updates

14. YOUR RIGHTS REGARDING YOUR PHOTO DATA

You have complete control over your photo data with the following rights:

Access Rights

  • View your selfie and all generated portraits on your device at any time
  • Know how your photo data is being used (as described in this policy)
  • Know who has access to your photo data (only our contracted AI generation service, during processing)

Control Rights

  • Delete all locally stored photos and portraits by resetting your profile or deleting the app
  • Withdraw consent for photo processing by choosing not to upload a photo
  • Update your selfie at any time from your profile settings
  • Since photos are not stored on our servers, there is no server-side data to request deletion of

Exercise Your Rights

  • Use the in-app profile settings to manage your photo and portrait data
  • Delete the app to remove all locally stored data
